But former Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise contestant Nick Viall is getting another shot at love after unexpectedly being named the new Bachelor by ABC on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old was announced as the surprise pick to star in the next series of the hit reality dating show on After Paradise on Tuesday.

‘I’m very excited,’ Nick admitted to After Paradise co-hosts Michelle Collins and Sean Lowe, but added: ‘I’m more nervous!’
‘I don’t know if anything really prepares you for it…maybe a lot of push ups,’ he joked about taking on the Bachelor role.
‘Honestly, I think I’m definitely ready for it. I’m very excited. I’ve had an interesting journey throughout this process.
The new Bachelor said he’s looking for a woman who is confident, and described his ideal match as ‘someone who makes me a better person and challenges me.’

Nick was runner-up for Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s series of The Bachelorette, and appears on this summer’s Bachelor in Paradise.
It was widely expected that war vet Luke Pell or Chase McNary were the front runners to be named as the next Bachelor, after both men were left heartbroken by JoJo Fletcher on the most recent season of Bachelorette.
Milwaukee native Nick has in the past divided fans, and was accused of ‘slut shamming’ Andi Dorfman, who later slammed him in her tell-all book It’s Not Okay.

But his reputation has undergone a transformation for the better as he’s struggled to find love on Bachelor in Paradise.
He’s currently dating Jen Saviano on the show, but it appears their love match didn’t last.
‘We don’t end up together,’ Nick admitted, while calling her ‘an amazing woman.’

Nick has also earned fans’ admiration on this season of Bachelor In Paradise for standing up to love rival Josh Murray as they battled over the affections of single mom Amanda Stanton.
The pair have a long rivalry, as Nick was also runner-up to Josh on Andi’s season of The Bachelorette.
The new season of The Bachelor will air on ABC in 2017.
