Warner’s “Wonder Woman” movie, fresh off an enormously successful summer theatrical run, easily debuted at No. 1 on both national home video sales charts the week ended Sept. 23, bumping Universal Pictures’ “The Mummy” to No. 2.

Wonder Woman,” which with a domestic box office take of more than $ 412 million is the year’s No. 2 movie (behind Walt Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast”), snagged the No. 1 spot on both the NPD VideoScan overall disc sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

The Mummy,” which had debuted at No. 1 the prior week, fell to second with total unit sales amounting to just 13.5% of “Wonder Woman” sales, according to NPD research.

DreamWorks Animation’s “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie,” based on the Dav Pilkey comic books aimed at pre-teen boys, slipped to No. 3 on the overall chart and No. 4 on the Blu-ray Disc chart. The film had debuted at No. 2 the prior week.

Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” came in at No. 4 on the overall disc sales chart and No. 3 on the Blu-ray Disc chart. The film spent three weeks at No. 1 before slipping to No. 3 the previous week.

Rounding out the top five on the overall disc sales chart was “Hocus Pocus,” the 1993 horror fantasy film from Disney that returns to the charts every year around Halloween. This year interest also is fueled by word that a remake is in the works. On the Blu-ray Disc sales chart, the No. 5 spot went to another Disney early 1990s film, “The Lion King: Signature Edition.”

NPD data shows that “Wonder Woman” generated 73% of its first-week sales from Blu-ray Disc, significantly higher than the 62% figure posted by “The Mummy” in its first week. In its second week in stores, the Blu-ray Disc percentage for “The Mummy” slipped to 58%, while “Captain Underpants” saw its Blu-ray Disc yield slip from 56% to 54%.

On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week ended Sept. 24, “Captain Underpants” shot to No. 1 now that its week-long holdback from Redbox is over.

Paramount’s “Baywatch” slipped to No. 2 after three weeks in the top rental spot, while Lionsgate’s “The Big Sick” debuted at No. 3.

Rounding out the top five were “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” at No. 4 and Sony Pictures’ “Rough Night” at No. 5.
